Beyond Band-Aids: Addressing the Root Cause of Allergies

Hello and welcome to All Things Foster, a place for coffee, connection and community. We're here at Pada Palooza and I've said this, but our episodes are pretty, short. My episodes are normally kind of a long form, but we're gonna get to some really great information from Christine. So thank you for joining us and Christine, thanks for coming on our show today.

Christine (00:26.988)

Thank you for having me. I'm delighted to be here.

Matt (00:29.836)

Yeah, so Christine, tell us a little bit about you and what you do.

Christine (00:34.958)

Okay, so I've been working for the last 20 years helping people with allergies and sensitivities. And my approach is very unconventional. It is an alternative method. And I kind of started when my daughter had eczema when she was three months old, that was my wake up call.

I didn't wake up initially to that until after she was better and things hindsight, you know, 2020. and then I learned different techniques that I could use since that, to be able to help people naturally to identify and kind of reset their symptoms for the, all the different substances that set us off.

Matt (01:28.514)

Yeah, Yeah, ironically, you mentioned that my, I have a daughter that came to us at 22 months and she had eczema. And so I was, there's a couple that are both pharmacists, but they do lots of homeopathic stuff. And so I was talking to her and she was like, you know, talking about the effects of not having enough progesterone when a kid was in utero.

And so she had me just do like three or four applications of progesterone cream and it went away. And she's not had eczema ever since. I mean, it just blew my mind. So yeah. So talk to us a little bit about what your approach is to figuring out allergies and how to help kiddos with that.

Christine (02:19.638)

Okay, so are you familiar with something called applied kinesiology?

Matt (02:26.595)

I mean, I know what kinesiology is, but that's like, if you get a kinesiology degree, you're like a physical therapist and that kind of stuff, right?

Christine (02:35.158)

Yeah, it's different. Yeah. But so basically, when you look at how the body is the body is so smart. So when somebody is reacting to something, the body will get stressed, you have inflammation, and it creates a response, but it also goes weak.

Matt (02:51.438)

Mm-hmm.

Christine (03:00.354)

So with applied kinesiology, what you're doing is you literally, you isolate a muscle and you take the substance, whatever it might happen to be, and you put it against that muscle. And then you test against the muscle using a stress type of test. So it's a stress response. What happens is when you isolate that muscle, if that muscle weakens,

it tells you that that substance is an issue.

And it just, and you're not ingesting it, you're not using a needle, you're not exposed to the substance in any way. The body is able to look at that fingerprint of the substance or that signature of the substance and go, okay, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, okay, I either know what this is or I don't. I don't, therefore it must be bad. And it just creates a response.

And then from there, what I've been able to do is take acupuncture and combine it into.

laser instead of needles. And you take that information for the substance. So whether maybe it's a dog or cat or pollen, and you're able to actually send that information through the laser into acupuncture points in the body. And the body takes that then and says, okay, I have my program running here for that. And it's not working.

Christine (04:46.176)

So I'm going to take this one and replace it. And then the body recognizes the substance again and it doesn't react to it anymore.

Matt (04:55.76)

No way, that's insane. That's amazing.

How did you get it? You said you got into this because your daughter had eczema, right? Wow.

Christine (05:08.088)

Yeah, and it was literally, I call it by fluke because when she had the eczema, I was clueless. You know, and her eczema went away when she was one year of age and everything that was suggested to me to help with the eczema didn't work. And only after it was gone then, and I started to get into nutrition, did I start to put some of the pieces together going, wait a minute.

Matt (05:14.306)

Yeah.

Christine (05:37.87)

I was told to give this formula. Never bothered to look at the ingredients of the formula. And I think, okay, when she was one year old, the formula stopped. You know, and yes, I was also breastfeeding. guess what? Whatever I was eating was going from me to her. And the other thing that compounded the issue that I realized after the fact,

was certain things that you are required to do for your children when they're young at certain intervals, certain injections. If the body is overloaded, that just adds to the overload. And it just activates your immune system. So they have actually done studies where they realize, if you have a cut at a certain time and you're exposed to a food at the same time.

example because the body's in that heightened state you can develop an issue to that food just by bad timing.

Matt (06:44.306)

Yeah.

Christine (06:46.094)

So that goes along the same lines as anything. could be a cut. I've had people where they have an allergic reaction to cats because when they were younger.

they were exposed to a cat at the same time that they had some other stressful event. So our bodies are so smart and so complicated.

And the body is never trying to harm us. It's always trying to protect us. And we always just put band-aids on top, right?

Matt (07:20.59)

So, I'm in Amarillo, Texas. So how can somebody, how do you help somebody if, I mean, I'm assuming you normally would have somebody come in and do this laser with this substance, whatever it is. What if they're not there? What do you do? What do you have people

Christine (07:46.43)

the trick. So what I do is I am able to teach people how they can test themselves and then I show them how they can actually use a laser for themselves or for their child. If it's a practitioner maybe they would incorporate it into their practice because something like this is a tool I think that everyone should be able to use

Matt (08:17.614)

Yeah, sure. do you have a... Where can people find out more about you and what you do?

Christine (08:26.504)

If they wanted to find out more, they can actually go to my website. Ironically it's called no allergies, please. If I also have a simple little test guide that they can take and it's just my first and last name like Christinelauer.ca and they can learn some basic techniques to start testing themselves.

Matt (08:32.748)

Ha ha ha!

Matt (08:54.786)

Hmm.

Christine (08:56.49)

And it's actually quite fun because then you start to listen to your body in terms of what it's telling you or trying to tell you because normally we ignore our bodies, right? We're so used to just going about our business that when it's communicating, it's yelling at us, right? And we ignore it. So then it starts to scream, you know, some of the things that we have an issue with now, the body can silently manage, but then, you know, five, 10 years from now,

Matt (09:13.283)

Yeah.

Christine (09:25.91)

it can't manage and then the symptoms appear.

Matt (09:28.972)

Yeah.

Matt (09:32.302)

Wow, that's crazy. So you said it's Christinelauer.ca Yeah. Okay, we'll link that down in the show notes and things like that. And they can order these tests that they can administer themselves and then you teach them how to do this themselves.

Christine (09:57.294)

Yeah, I teach them exactly how they can do some testing. Okay. And again, there's no needles or anything. So completely non-invasive. They, you know, I've, I've had kids sometimes they'll come in and they've had such bad experiences when they were younger, the minute they go into any place, they assume it's going to be the same thing. And they start to cry. Yeah.

you know, because they think they're going to get poked and prodded and that they're going to have some more needles or injections or something. And it's hard because they don't understand it. You know, I've had other people that have come in with their infants for eczema and being told that food has nothing to do with why they have eczema. And yet they take that particular food out of diet and everything clears up.

Matt (10:48.62)

Right, yeah. Yeah, ironically, so I have rheumatoid arthritis and about...

Matt (11:01.006)

Three or four years ago, I can't remember for sure. I was just miserable. was hurting everywhere all the time. And so my wife was, I had had thumb surgery twice and it just was not feeling any better and stuff. So I went to start going to see this lady to do laser treatments. And she started talking to me about

what we eat and how it affects your body. And so that was around Christmas. And so I was like, okay, I'm gonna get through the Christmas holidays. And then right after that, I'm gonna jump into this and I'm gonna do this eating plan. And it was kind of developed by Clint Pattison. I don't know if you know who he is, but he had RA and it just came out of kind of nowhere and everything. Well, he started doing some research.

and determining the types of foods that kinda cause reactions and stuff like that. So anyways, I started following and eating whole foods, not processed, stuff like that. within days, within days I was feeling 100 times better. It was incredible to me the impact that some of the things

that we put in our bodies that, you assume is okay. It's really not.

Christine (12:39.022)

I know like I remember I had a client who was a swimmer and she was doing some competing and I had suggested maybe you know take some of the wheat out of her diet because she might perform better and I know she had a sister and I didn't I didn't know that the sister had any health issues but they had decided to take the wheat out in general as a family because it was just easier

Matt (12:53.112)

Yeah.

Matt (13:09.068)

Yeah, sure.

Christine (13:10.722)

The next time they came in, they said, by the way, our other daughter was having migraines every day for years and years, and she was on medication for the migraines. They took the wheat out of the diet, migraines gone.

Matt (13:28.364)

Wow. It's amazing.

Christine (13:30.05)

Yeah, yeah. And.

Matt (13:34.762)

So I'm sorry, do have, so you have on your site, so you can order these tests, but then do you do like individualized coaching over the computer or do you have like a podcast or YouTube channel or anything? How do people learn this stuff from you?

Christine (13:54.414)

So when it comes to the testing I will teach them Online how to do it. It isn't necessarily for the type of tests that they're doing They don't need to order a test Right. It's literally Just testing the substance against your body. So for example

Matt (14:08.918)

Right, okay.

Christine (14:18.862)

Let's pretend this is, I don't know, milk, okay? You could literally put this against your body and depending on how your body sways or moves, you can determine whether it's an issue for you.

Matt (14:36.95)

Wow. That's crazy.

Christine (14:41.358)

and everyone will find what works best for them for testing. That's one way. There's other different ways of testing. The only other type of tests that I do is I would have people do like a dry blood spot test that checks and measures actually the inflammation in their body. It gives you a number of inflammation and that gives you a good baseline to see where you're at.

And that's something that they literally just do at home and then send to a lab and it gives you okay So this is where I'm at. Let's make some changes and Then you can retest after and you can see how the body shifts

Matt (15:21.222)

Yep.

Matt (15:26.798)

Yeah. Wow. And so, do they register with you to do like one-on-one coaching? Yeah. Okay.

Christine (15:36.952)

Yeah. And I'm actually just putting together a program right now where I'll teach them how to do all the testing together, all the different ones and they can ask me questions. They can practice all that kind of thing. You know, it's, find it's a very powerful tool. Yeah. And it's been around since it's gosh.

Probably for like 70, 80 years. Yeah. Yeah.

Matt (16:12.078)

That's crazy. Wow, that's so interesting. What are some of the things that are, I don't even know if this is possible, are there things that are most common in our diets that are problematic?

Christine (16:27.864)

Yeah, so typically the things that we eat the most often or the things that have been altered the most would be sugar, wheat, dairy, corn and soy outside of, know, like peanut allergies and shellfish, right? In terms of food, because it's usually in our breakfast, it's in our lunch, it's somewhere in our dinner.

and we're constantly being exposed to it. And then when you're thinking of the soy and corn, they've literally, I don't know if you're familiar with glyphosate or Roundup.

Matt (17:07.274)

Okay, roundup, I know, yeah

Christine (17:08.962)

Yeah, so glyphosate is the active ingredient in the Roundup. And so when they have genetically modified the corn and the soy, that Roundup is in there. wow.

And that's what allows them to spray the entire crop, the entire field with the Roundup without killing the crop. the problem is it's in the DNA of the crop. Plus they spray it and then we eat it. Yeah. And that tends to be, I think, one of the bigger issues.

Matt (17:38.497)

Yeah.

Matt (17:47.726)

can't believe they put Roundup in the genes I guess to make it resistant. So when they spray it, it kills everything but that.

Christine (17:57.132)

Yeah. And then the wheat, haven't altered, but they spray the wheat at harvest time with the roundup. Right. So we're just being hit with it, you know, and it is banned in many European countries.

And from clients I've had, say, yeah, I can go on vacation. I can go down south or I can go to different places in Europe and I can eat all that stuff and I'm fine. In the minute that I come here, I'm a mess.

Matt (18:24.586)

Right. Yeah, I heard that too. Yeah, one of the things that I cut out was dairy from my diet. That was one of the things that has been the most impactful for me is cutting out the dairy.

Christine (18:40.696)

And you don't realize it because we're so used to like when you eat certain things, the body might initially tell you, not necessarily in tuned enough to pay attention, right? And then we keep exposing ourselves to it. And so it stops telling us.

Matt (18:53.198)

Sure.

Matt (18:59.182)

Mmm.

That's crazy. Wow. Wow. So Christine, and again, like I said, I'll put this in the show notes, but Christinelauer.ca because you're in Canada. And again they can connect with you and learn more about the work that you're doing and things like that.

Christine (19:20.49)

Yes, for sure. Like, and anyone, everyone should be able just to do this themselves.

Matt (19:24.702)

Yeah. Well, awesome. That's so, so interesting. And so I appreciate you coming on and sharing your expertise with our audience. so like I said, I'll put your contact info down in the show notes and hopefully some folks can connect with you to help their kiddos.

Christine (19:46.178)

Yes, and thank you for having me. And again, if they just even have questions and want to learn more, I'm more than welcome just to answer their questions too.

Matt (19:54.392)

Sounds good. Well, thank you, Christine, for coming on. Guys, sure. Guys, thank you for tuning in. Make sure to like, subscribe, and share. We've got lots of great content, and we want to get more and more folks to follow and learn the things that we're learning on our show. So thanks, and have a great week. Bye.

Christine (19:57.592)

Thank so much.
